First aired on The Final Straw.
Have you heard about the new law passed in Pennsylvania? Super-fascist Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett recently signed a law that potentially eliminates prisoner public speech. This comes on the heals of Mumia Abu-Jamal giving a commencement address at a college he attended.
On the one day of the year that the U.S. didn’t start a new war, Mumia became a news story and Maureen Faulkner heard about Mumia’s commencememt address on the radio. Faulkner is the widow of the Philadelphia cop who shot Mumia in the chest and then forgot how to duck. She claims that hearing about Mumia is just TOO PAINFUL and she needs Pennsylvania to pass a law and shut up Mumia so she won’t have to hear about him.
Yeah. No kidding. And so far, no one in Pennsylvania is smart enough to realize it’s cheaper to hire someone to teach Frootloop Faulkner to change the channel on her radio. Instead they pass a law to silence Mumia and even call it “The Mumia Law.” Well, unless that’s TOO PAINFUL for Faulkner. She may have to get another law passed to prevent Pennsylvania lawmakers from calling this The Mumia Law and make them refer to him as “The M-word,” not to be confused with the “N-word,” which the judge used several times in Mumia’s trial.
How the M-word Law works, super-victims like Frootloop Faulkner whine to a judge about a prisoner making sense in public, and the court orders the prisoner to stop. That’s right. No sense allowed.
And keep in mind, in the case of Mumia, Frootloop Faulkner the super-victim isn’t complaining about public speech about her dead husband. Mumia never mentioned that dimwit (who didn’t duck) when he gave his commencement. So, ultimately, if the Pittsburgh Zoo blasts Mumia’s voice at the animals reciting, “I’m a Little Tea Pot,” and Frootloop Faulkner finds out about it, she can get a judge to silence him, conceivably for life.
In an interview with Democracy Now!, aired 28 October, Mumia points out how this new law is totally unconstitutional. It’s so bad, in fact, that a worthless bunch like the American Civil Liberties Union, who has been useless since the 1960s, is thinking about getting in the ring.
Now to be clear, this law doesn’t effect me. I’m in Ohio. But Ohio’s smack-dab in the middle of the Ignorance Belt with Pennsylvania next door. We know dog-swapping, wife-kicking hierarchs like Kasich and Corbett share the same brain, and what happens in the backyard of the Masonic Lodge doesn’t stay in the backyard of the Masonic Lodge. I’d bet money that Governor JWow follows in Corbett’s footsteps on this.
I mean look– Pennsylvania’s going after Mumia. I’ve got nothing but respect for him, but objectively Mumia’s politics are not so radical. He’s no revolutionary nor insurrectionist. He’s not calling for bullets and bombs, gasoline and books of matches. He advocates reform– legal challenges and elections. His politics aren’t that far to the left of Oprah. Me, on the other hand, my extensive collection of writings on the topic of political violence will never make her book-of-the-month club.
Governor JWow shut me down for 8 weeks earlier this year just to gaze at my penis. Think he won’t sign a similar law to this Pennsylvania nonsense in order to shut me down for good? Silence. So, I’m worried.
But this impacts your rights too. When states duct tape the mouths of Mumia and others, states take away your right to hear the whole story. The public discourse is amputated. From there, the ruling elite can take a butcher knife to other views and other speakers and we all end up under the knife. It starts with a frootloop super-victim widow of a dead pig going after Mumia… It ends with book burnings, the dictatorial rule of flat-earthers… Scraps of truth smuggled out of concentration camps for others to read over the air until the cops raid the station with guns blazing…
It’s not just Mumia’s freedom under assault by Frootloop Faulkner and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It’s yours and mine. So what are we gonna do about it? Defer to reformist tactics employed by the ACLU and trust them to defend us? Or are we going to make ourselves clear in a direct way to fascists like Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett?
I would like to remind you that gas prices have been dropping… And that matches are free… Much freer than we are…
For Ihsan, this is anarchist prisoner Sean Swain from Ohio’s supermax facility. If you’re listening, you ARE the resistance…
